ANYWHO...
8 years ago, if you had told me this would happen, I would have literally laughed in your face.
At that point, my entrepreneurial track record looked like this:
- Tried to start a used car lot that got shut down by the city almost immediately 💸🔥
- Started a buy-and-sell business that got shut down by eBay 💸🔥
- Launched two iPhone apps that lost thousands of dollars 💸🔥
And those were just the latest failures.
It took years of trial-and-error before I figured out how to build something people wanted to buy, and attract people to it consistently.
And you know what I learned along the way?
Trial-and-error is overrated.
Sure, it can work. And it's way better than doing nothing. In fact, trial-and-error is what got the company to its first 6-figure and multi 6-figure years.
The problem is that it puts a hard ceiling on how fast you can grow.
Things that can take weeks with the right plan end up taking years. It's easy to feel stuck and get discouraged. And while many of the "errors" are minor, some can be extremely painful (like the time I had to lay off two people).
The most significant leaps forward in my business in recent years didn't come from trial-and-error. They came from hiring a coach.
Just look at this revenue chart from 2013-2020:
